Borussia Dortmund midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s agent, Mino Raiola, has confirmed that Manchester United have placed a bid for his client.
The Red Devils have been strongly linked with a move for the Armenia international recently. The 27-year-old has only one year left on his current deal with the Bundesliga club, and he has rejected to sign a new contract.
However, Dortmund have on many occasions made clear that they don’t intend to sell Mkhitaryan in the current transfer window. Raiola revealed that Dortmund are not willing to let go of their star player, but he remains hopeful for a deal to take place in the summer.
He told German publication Bild: “We have both taken very different views and fight for them like lions. (Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim) Watzke walks 180 degrees into one direction and I 180 degrees into the other. But even though it does not look like it right now, I still hope for a sensible solution.”
“Such an offer to join Manchester United might only come once in a lifetime for a player and nobody can guarantee us that the door will still be open for Micki next season. Manchester are Micki’s dream club, he wants to join them by any means.”
Meanwhile, Bundesliga club Schalke have joined Manchester United in the pursuit of FC Basel striker Breel Embolo.
The young Swiss international has attracted a lot of attention with his form for his club last season, and according to German publication Kicker, Schalke is one of the clubs interested in him.
Swiss publication Blick has further speculated on the story by claiming that Schalke wants Embolo to replace Leroy Sane, who is set to join Manchester City in a £38 million move. However, Manchester United still remains favourite to sign the 19-year-old Switzerland international.
