Real Madrid are reportedly pursuing Arsenal centre-back Laurent Koscielny, according to the latest reports. French football website Foot Mercato claims that the La Liga giants have identified the France international as a replacement of his compatriot Raphael Varane.
Varane’s future at the Madrid club looks uncertain with various reports having linked him with an exit from the club.
Koscielny arrived at the Emirates Stadium from Ligue 1 club Lorient six seasons ago and has established himself as one of the top defenders in Premier League. The 30-year-old has made 246 appearances during his time with Arsenal, meanings it’s highly unlikely that he will be allowed to leave the North London club.
Meanwhile, Japan international Takuma Asano has confirmed that Arsenal have approached him regarding a possible move to the club. The 21-year-old currently plays for J-League champions Sanfrecce Hiroshima and is set to represent Japan’s national team at 2016 Rio Olympic games.
When asked about the offer from Arsenal, Asano said: “I was a little stunned. But I feel like I have the confidence to succeed wherever I go. And if I go, I do have an idea of what it would be like… If I am loaned elsewhere, my take on it is that I give it 100 percent.”
Asano is expected to cost in the region of £3 million to the North London club.
