Starting from next season, teams will be allowed to use a fourth substitute in extra-time in this season’s FA Cup from the quarter-final stage, according to the BBC.
On Twitter, a bunch of football fans opposed the new rule:
EFL Trophy with academy sides in it and a fourth sub for ET in latter stages of cup competitions… Destroying English football!

Fourth sub in extra time in later stages of FA Cup? Why ? And why not earlier rounds as well. Mysterious decision.

FA announce that clubs can now make a FOURTH sub in latter stages of #FACup during extra time.

Fourth sub?! What next, rolling rubs, special teams for attack and defence like American football? Too far for me.

This is ok until your team gets knocked out due to a goal scored by the fourth sub. https://t.co/VYLpeoVuG0

However, there were also footballl fans who didn’t mind the change:
People getting their knickers in a twist over the fourth sub, excellent idea imo. Hopefully liven up the often dull extra time periods.

@fentonjames16 @EmiratesFACup Interesting. Have always wondered why Extra Time doesn’t allow for a fourth sub. Seems like a no-brainer.
