Tottenham have enquired as to the availability of Napoli and Italy right-back Christian Maggio, according to the players’ agent.
Spurs are thought to be looking to strengthen at full-back after Vedran Corluka’s form appears to have dropped, and a training ground argument between Alan Hutton and Harry Redknapp is set to result in the Scotland international leaving White Hart Lane in the Summer.
And according to reports in Italy, Spurs have made contact with Napoli over bringing Maggio to the club. Agent Massimo Briaschi told Radio Kiss Kiss: “Maggio is appreciated both abroad and in Italy. After all, he does play in a special position. We’re waiting for a sign from the club. We said we would meet again with the directors, but nothing else came of it.
“We are here waiting. Christian is happy at Napoli and doesn’t want to leave, even if he has offers from elsewhere. For example, Tottenham have looked at Maggio this season.”
Maggio can play at right-back or right-wing back, and has been an important member of the Napoli side that is currently 2nd in Serie A.
