Arsenal will be looking to kick-start their Premier League season with a victory over 19th placed Bolton at the Emirates Stadium today.
The Gunners have won just one of their five league matches this season, sitting in 17th position with the worst goal-difference in the whole league. Under pressure manager Arsene Wenger will at least be thankful to have a home tie against a side that have a worse record this season.
Bolton have lost their last four games, including most disappointingly last weekend’s 2-1 home defeat to newly promoted Norwich. Owen Coyle, who recently revealed his admiration for Arsenal’s style of play, will have Stuart Holden back in the match squad after being out for six months injured. Kevin Davies drops to the bench and David Ngog plays up-front.
Arsenal meanwhile are without Thomas Vermaelen, Abou Diaby, and the longterm injured Jack Wilshere, who it has been reported today could be out until Christmas. Kieran Gibbs comes into the side in place of Andre Santos at left-back.
Arsenal: Szczesny; Sagna, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs; Song, Ramsey; Walcott, Arteta, Gervinho; Van Persie
Bolton: Jaaskelainen, Steinsson, Knight, Wheater, Robinson, Eagles, Muamba, Reo-Coker, Pratley, Petrov, Ngog
