Givemefootball are reporting that Tottenham Hotspur’s much sought after creative midfielder Luka Modric is now the subject of interest from the defending Champions, Manchester United. London outfit Chelsea have been chasing the Croatian throughout the summer transfer window, but were unable to capture the midfielder, with Tottenham rejecting three bids from the Blues. Manchester United were reportedly interested early in the window before switching their attention to Dutch midfielder Wesley Sneijder. However, now that negotiations with Inter have broken down, it is thought Sir Alex Ferguson may switch his attention to Modric as a replacement for the retired Paul Scholes.

Tottenham playmaker Rafael Van der Vaart has been ruled out for six weeks, after picking up a hamstring injury in the teams 5-1 defeat to Manchester City last Sunday. The Dutchman has been a key man for Spurs over the last twelve months, and will be missed in the forthcoming weeks, as Tottenham have key fixtures in The Europa League and The Premier League. “It’s the last thing we need.
