Szczesny plans to shut out Adebayor in London derby

Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny is relishing the challenge of trying to prevent his former team-mate Emmanuel Adebayor from scoring for Spurs in this afternoon’s North London derby, reveals Goal.com.

By the time Szczesny had broken into Arsenal’s first team, Adebayor was no longer at the club as he left to join Manchester City. Nevertheless the Polish keeper is able to recall Gunners training sessions during which he had battles with the Spurs loanee, something which he is enthusiastic about rekindling and more importantly winning at White Hart Lane today.

“I would love to keep a clean sheet against him,” said Szczesny of Adebayor. “He is a quality player and probably one of the best strikers I have ever trained with. It will be hard to stop him but I am confident I can do it. Who won the battles in training between us? Well I am the one still at the club. As a defence, we know our job and we know how to deal with him.”
