Norwich vs QPR – Preview and prediction

Two of last season’s promoted sides face off at Carrow Road as Paul Lambert’s Norwich City take on Neil Warnock’s QPR.

The Canaries have performed much better than expected and they currently sit in 11th place, two points behind QPR. Lambert’s defensive problems are easing with Zak Whitbread, Daniel Ayala and Ritchie de Laet all back training. They are unavailable for first team selection, so Russell Martin is again expected to deputise in central defence. Last weekend’s loss at Arsenal was no surprise to the Canaries fans and they will be hopeful for three points this weekend.

Like their opponents this weekend, QPR have been over-achieving and sit in ninth place in the table. Warnock’s side will be without captain Joey Barton through suspension and injuries to Luke Young and Danny Gabbidon have ruled them out also. A win away at Stoke City for the R’s last weekend lifted them into the top half and was their third away win this season.

QPR have a good away record, but have conceded eight in their last three fixtures in the league. Norwich will be looking to capitalise on defensive frailties and a good game should be expected with all the potential of a score draw.
