Pardew: Chelsea need to pay big money for Tiote

Chelsea are poised to launch a £20m bid for Newcastle’s defensive stopper Chieck Tiote in a bid to halt their poor run of form, according to The Daily Mail.

The Blues have already been defeated four times so far this season and have been slated for their poor defensive displays. Midfielder John Obi Mikel looks like being one player leaving Chelsea and with Michael Essien’s injury, the Blues are interested in bringing Tiote to the football club. Chelsea have shown interest in the Ivorian international already this summer and hope that in January, they can bring Tiote to Stamford Bridge. Newcastle boss Alan Pardew has warned potential suitors that the midfielder will not come cheap.

Pardew said: ‘It is going to cost a hell of a lot of money, a hell of a lot of money because we’re in that position now. I think any of our players that get linked to other clubs, these clubs are going to need to know they’ll need to pay a shed load of money to get anyone out of this football club’.
