Fulham manager Rene Meulensteen has said that he has no issue focusing first on his side’s Premier League game with Swansea rather than the FA Cup tie with Sheffield United this Sunday, according to Sky
The London side are set to face Sheffield United away from home in the FA Cup fourth-round tie at the weekend but the priority is the second away trip just 51 hours later at the Liberty Stadium.
“The Swansea game is more important because it is so tight in the Premier League,” the Fulham manager said.
Swansea sit just two places above the Cottagers in the Premier League and only two points separate the sides, making it a vital game for Premier League survival.
The Fulham boss has admitted that he will need to rotate his squad for the close proximity games but stated his annoyance at the fixtures.
“There is not one country in the world that would let someone play in a fourth round of the cup on a Sunday and then play an important league game on Tuesday.
“Everyone with a bit of common sense understands that.
“I have to utilise the squad to the best of my ability, to make sure it doesn’t affect either competition.”
