Brendan Rodgers gave little away regarding the latest news on Liverpool’s reported bid for Yevhen Konoplyanka from Ukraine club Dnipro, reports Sky
Tottenham are also thought to be interested in the winger, and with just hours remaining before the transfer window slams shut it would appear that the two club’s efforts to sign the 24-year-old on deadline day could go down to the wire.
Ian Ayre, Liverpool’s managing director, flew to the Ukraine earlier in the week in an effort to thrash out a deal for the Ukraine international, and it is understood that Konoplyanka himself is enthusiastic about the prospect of moving to the red half of Merseyside.
Rodgers, however, was unable to give any further information when asked. He said: “There’s obviously an interest in the player but there’s no update.
“The staff over there have done brilliant work with regards to trying to get the player. But we need to see how that develops over the course of the day. It’s all happened so quickly and the deadline is tight.
“We’ve had a list with a number of players on it, so we’ll see how it develops later.”
Konoplyanka has spent his entire career at Dnipro, having made his debut in 2007. He has gone on to make 125 appearances, scoring 25 goals, and made his international debut in 2010.
He has gone on to earn 35 caps thus far.
