Liverpool bosses are prepared to accept a bid of £80m for shamed star Luis Suarez, according to the Mirror, before using the money to make their move for Brendan Rodger’s long standing target Lazar Markovic.
Barcelona are said to still want the disgraced Uruguayan, who received a four month ban from all football activity after being found to have bitten Italian defender Georgio Cheillini, and Liverpool are willing to do a deal – but only if their valuation is met.
An £80m bid would be what the Anfield club want, or equally around £50m plus Chilean star Alexis Sanchez s part of the deal, who is thought to be worth around £25m.
Talks are said to have been held between the two clubs, with new Barcelona boss Luis Enrique comparing the forward to former Catalan ‘firebrand’ Hristo Stoickhov – who was still regarded as a legend despite controversially, and deliberately, treading on a referee’s foot
The money received would be used to fund a move for Rodger’s next main target, Markovic, of whom he is a long term admirer.
The 20-year-old Serbia international winger has a £20m buy out clause in his contract and is thought to be keen on a move to the Reds – although they are thought to have stiff competition from Chelsea for his signature.
