Manchester City will be unable to call upon midfielder Samir Nasri for at least three weeks after he sustained a calf injury in training, Sky
The Frenchman will now miss Sunday’s encounter with former club Arsenal as well as upcoming fixtures against Middlesbrough in the FA Cup and title rivals Chelsea in the Premier League. Fit-again top scorer Sergio Aguero is likely to take his place in the starting XI.
Manager Manuel Pellegrini said of the injury: “We have had some problems during the week with Samir. I think he will be out for three weeks but to come back before then will be very difficult.”
On the situation regarding Aguero and captain Vincent Kompany, the Chilean added: “Vincent is 100% okay, no problems. Sergio is working with the squad every day, so he doesn’t have any problem. We will see if he starts, but at the moment he is 100 per cent fit.”
Man City are currently second in the Premier League as they look to retain the title they won last season. Two points is the gap between themselves and Chelsea going into Saturday’s round of games.
