Newcastle defender Steven Taylor out for the season with rupture Achilles tendon

According to caretaker manager John Carver, Newcastle centre-back Steven Taylor could be out for the rest of the currently campaign after rupturing his Achilles tendon, reports BBC Sport.

“It looks like he has ruptured his Achilles tendon. It’s not the one he did previously. I think that’s the end for the season. You could tell the way he landed it was something to do with the calf or Achilles and unfortunately it’s not looking good,” he said.

Taylor, 28, scored his first goal of the season in the 3-3 draw against Burnley, but was injure during the game. He’d previously icked up the same knock back in 2011, and given there are only five months of the season left, Taylor’s season is likely to be over.
