Hull City 1-0 Liverpool: Dawson goal boosts Tigers’ survival hopes

Hull City defender Michael Dawson scored the only goal of the game, as the relegation-threatened side took a big step on the road to survival in the Premier League by seeing past top-four hopefuls Liverpool at the KC Stadium on Tuesday night, reports Sky Sports.

City took the lead in the first-half through the former Tottenham centre-back. Michael Dawson scored his first ever goal for the Tigers, heading home from an Ahmed Elmohamady cross. Liverpool were poor throughout against the Tigers, and struggled to breakthrough the resilient backline.

A lack of goals has been prevalent all through Liverpool’s season, and the likes of Raheem Sterling and Mario Balotelli were below par all night. The attacking duo couldn’t create any clear-cut chances of note, and substitutions made by manager Brendan Rodgers failed to see their fortunes turn around on Tuesday.

The result is massive for Hull City, as they have continued their push for survival in the Premier League. Liverpool, on the other hand, are now resigned to fighting for Europa League, as their hopes of finishing in the top-four are all but over for the season, with the sides above too many points ahead.
