Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers revealed striker Mario Balotelli suffered a gash foot in the Reds’ 1-0 defeat away to Hull City on Tuesday night, which could potentially keep him out of action for the next few days, reports Sky
The Italian international was somewhat culpable for the winning goal scoring by Hull City’s Michael Dawson, and was substituted in the 65th minute following his injury. He was seen with an ice pack to his foot following the incident, and is caps what has been a miserable season for the former AC Milan and Inter Milan striker.
Mario Balotelli has struggled for form all through the campaign after his £16M move from the Italian Serie A, with injuries having limited his game time for the Merseysiders. He was below-par against the Tigers in the time he was on the pitch, and his manager has revealed the club will check him out to see how long he will be missing for.
With Daniel Sturridge having been injured for the majority of the campaign, Balotelli’s injury woes leave Liverpool with few viable options in attack. And on the Italian, Rodgers was quoted as saying: “He’s got a bad gash to his foot. We’ll see how that is over next couple of days.”
