Redknapp not to blame for QPR struggles, insists Sandro

Queens Park Rangers midfielder Sandro has insisted that former manager Harry Redknapp should not be blamed for the club’s struggles this season, the Daily Mail has reported.

The club has been in the bottom three for the majority of the season, in which Redknapp was at the helm until his resignation in February. He cited imminent knee surgery as his prime reason for stepping down, but has recently described QPR as a ‘soap opera’ while accusing people at the club of working against him.

Some members of the QPR squad have hinted that they believe Redknapp’s recruitment policy last summer was flawed, as well as his approach to training. Academy boss Chris Ramsey is currently in charge of first-team affairs, and while the club still finds itself in the drop zone, they can escape it if they take all three points against leaders Chelsea on Sunday.

However, Sandro feels that placing the blame on the 68-year-old Redknapp would be harsh. He said: ‘I don’t think it’s fair to blame him. ‘I’m never going to put everything on the coach or the players, it is half and half because everyone has to pull together. If we don’t stay up it’s not Chris’s fault, not just our fault, it’s everyone together.’

The Brazilian was one of Redknapp’s signings last summer; the two reuniting after spending two seasons working together at Tottenham.
