Ahead of their weekend clash to come against Everton, Sunderland manager Dick Advocaat believes the Black Cats can avoid relegation this season, and is also confident at getting a result when they travel to Goodison Park on Saturday, reports Sky
Sunderland are currently in the relegation zone in the Premier League, but could haul themselves from the bottom three if they can beat Everton and results go their. Given they are without an away win this year, it’s certainly a big ask for the Black Cats to get all three points at Goodison Park – a ground Everton haven’t lost at in 2015. But manager Dick Advocaat is confident that Sunderland can start surprise people and picking up result to good opposition.
They did beat Southampton only last week, while earning a 1-1 away draw against Stoke City, so they are somewhat in good form at the right time. Everton are no slouches, however, with the Blues winning five of their last seven in the Premier League. Everton and Sunderland drew in their last meeting at the Stadium of Light, but the Black Cats boss wants victory to get out of trouble in the division this weekend.
“They know what they have to do but with four games still to go, we still need points. We are winning and that’s the way we go into Everton. Against good teams, they are safe, good players. It is up to us. If we can do it against Stoke City in the second half, you can also do it against Everton. It is confidence you must have now,” he said.
