Arsenal have entered the race to sign Augsburg full-back Abdul Baba Rahman, who is also wanted by Chelsea and Real Madrid.
According to the Metro, the 20-year-old’s agent has held talks with the Gunners, having travelled to London to discuss a potential move with several clubs.
Rahman has been one of the big bright points in an exceptional season for the German side. They stunned many people by finishing fifth in the Bundesliga, and earning a place in next season’s Europa League. Nevertheless, with 12 points keeping them from Bayer Leverkusen in fourth, it appears that Markus Weinzierl’s side have reached their ceiling, and thus, may be expecting to lose some of their most exciting talents, including the defender.
He may have a difficult task on his hands to make himself a regular in Arsene Wenger’s side however. Both Kieran Gibbs and Nacho Monreal enjoyed solid seasons last year, with the Spaniard especially, looking impressive. However, Rahman is certainly one for the future, so should be a name that currently sits quite high on Wenger’s shopping list.
