Manchester United have reportedly entered into talks with Atletico Madrid star Arda Turan, who is keen to leave the La Liga side.
The 28-year-old wants to move on, the Metro report, having spent the last four years as an integral part of Diego Simeone’s side.
Atleti have valued the Turkish international at £29m, the Metro add, which has not put off Louis van Gaal. However, he will have to beat off competition from Premier League champions Chelsea, who are also keen on the player.
Turan has enjoyed an excellent time in Spain, helping the club surprise everyone by winning the La Liga title in 2014. And they were minutes away from sealing an incredible double, but were agonisingly denied the Champions League crown by Real Madrid.
Nevertheless, he has decided he wants to seek a fresh challenge, and Madrid’s loss may prove to be the Premier League’s gain, with United and Chelsea leading the charge for his signature.
