Bayern Munich could be ready to use club legend Bastian Schweinsteiger as a makeweight in a deal to prize Angel Di Maria away from Manchester United this summer, according to the Metro.
The 30-year-old midfielder has emerged as a top target for the Red Devils recently, but Bayern chief Pep Guardiola isn’t thought to be keen on allowing him to leave the club so easily and will demand Di Maria in return.
It has been suggested that Schweinsteiger could be available for the outrageously low fee of just £7.5m as he enters the final year of his contract at the Alianz Arena.
However, at £59.7m, Angel Di Maria last summer became the UK’s record mover, commanding the fifth highest transfer fee ever.
But following a decidedly underwhelming first season in the Premier League, reports in Germany believe that United could be tempted to move the Argentine playmaker on just 12 months after he arrived, and would be interested in a deal that would see Schweinsteiger head to Old Trafford along with a big cash deal.
