Liverpool are said to be closing in on a stunning deal to sign Manchester United target Roberto Firmino on a five-year deal, according to the Metro.

The Reds are already planning for life without star winger Raheem Sterling, and have apparently made signing the Brazil international one of their top priorities this summer.

And though rumours in England are still rife that Liverpool are closing in on his signature, reports in his native Brazil are already claiming that the deal is done, and that he will put pen-to-paper on a five-year contract at Anfield.

The news will no doubt come as a huge boost to both Brendan Rodgers as well as long suffering Reds fans, as the club look to rebuild the squad following a disappointing campaign last term.

Firmino is currently on international duty with Brazil in the Copa America, and any deal to bring him to England likely won’t be completed until his involvement comes to an end.
