Liverpool have reportedly agreed to meet Southampton’s £15m asking price for England international full-back Nathaniel Clyne, according to reports in the Metro.
Clyne is looking increasingly likely to leave the south coast club this summer, and has already been the subject of a £10m offer from the Merseyside giants.
However, that bid was rejected as Ronald Koeman was holding out for an offer of £15m, and despite initially being reluctant to meet those demands, reports suggest that Rodgers is now prepared to part with the cash to secure his signature.
Southampton have already signed a replacement for Clyne in the shape of Sporting Lisbon star Cedric Soares, and the Reds will be hoping that his presence will ensure that the deal to bring the 24-year-old to Anfield can be completed quickly.
Clyne joined Southampton in the summer of 2012 from Crystal Palace, and has gone on to make 104 appearances for the club, scoring five goals and transforming himself into an England international in the process.
