Liverpool have officially completed the signing of Brazilian playmaker Roberto Firmino for a fee of £29m, Sky
Liverpool chief executive Ian Ayre flew to Chile himself to finally wrap up the deal, and got the outcome he’d hoped for in the early hours of Wednesday UK time.
However, the deal is still subject to a medical, which will take place upon the conclusion of his involvement in the Copa America.
It had been thought that Firmino would be joining Liverpool’s arch rivals, Manchester United, but the Reds have stole in on their interest to pouch first.
Able to play anywhere across the front three, many believe he has arrived to take over from Raheem Sterling, who is still being heavily linked with a move away from the club in the coming weeks.
Having joined Hoffenhiem from Brazilian side Figueirense in 2010, he has chalked up an impressive 49 goals in 153 appearances across all competitions for the Bundesliga side.
