Liverpool are allegedly willing to strike a deal that will allow Raheem Sterling to join Arsenal, but only if the Gunners will part with Theo Walcott and Kieran Gibbs in return, according to ESPNFC.
Arsenal Goals and Highlights
Sterling is still refusing to sign a new deal with the Reds, and is being heavily tipped to leave before the expiration of his current contract in 2017.
Liverpool have continually stated that the England international is not for sale, but are now reportedly attempting to engineer a situation that will benefit them should he continue to refuse to sign a new contract.
Sources on the inside of the deal have apparently told ESPN that Liverpool have approached the Gunners about the possibility of bringing the England internationals to Anfield, hoping to capitalise on Wenger’s interest in the 20-year-old winger.
The Reds have targeted Gibbs and Walcott as ideal additions to their squad, as they would both fill roles that weren’t adequately covered last season, and add some much needed pace.
Gibbs has found himself behind Nacho Monreal in the pecking order at right-back, while Walcott’s future is still unsure as he has so far stalled on signing a new deal with the Gunners.
