Barcelona have recently extended the contract of Dani Alves, and having added to that by signing Aleix Vidal, Montoya’s future looks to be in serious doubt.
Brendan Rodgers has been tracking the Spanish international for some time now, and reports in Spain are claiming that he will decide whether he wants to stay at the Nou Camp or move on in the next couple of days.
The Reds are believed to have already agreed terms with the player after making a £7.3m transfer offer, as they seek a replacement for England international Glen Johnson, whose contract at the club has expired.
Montoya made his debut for the Barcelona first team back in the 2010/11 and has gone on to make 67 appearances, scoring two goals.
