Manchester United have finally unveiled new signing Memphis Depay, nearly a month after the winger agreed a £25m move to Old Trafford.

The 21-year-old was one of the hottest properties in Europe going into the latter stages of last season. His 22 goals helped PSV Eindhoven win the Eredivisie title. The Guardian reported in May that the Red Devils had been the ones to convince Depay to come to the Premier League.
However, with the transfer window only officially opening this week, it is only now that Louis van Gaal has been able to unveil the man he worked with during last year’s World Cup, when the United boss was the head coach of the Netherlands side that finished third in Brazil.
And while Depay’s role in the national side was less extensive than it was during his final year in Dutch club football, he did show signs of promise during the tournament.
According to United’s official wesbite, van Gaal believes that while the youngster may endure a slow start to life in England, he could become a very special talent at the Theatre of Dreams.
“It will take time for Memphis to get used to the rhythm of the Premier League, but I have no doubt that he has the potential to become a great footballer for this club,” he said.
And Depay suggested that he had moved to the club that offered him the best chance of delivering on his frightening potential.
“This is a dream come true for me; to play for the biggest club in the world and also to have the chance to work with someone who I believe is the best manager in the world, Louis van Gaal. I have great belief in my ability and I work hard to strive to achieve my dreams,” the winger stated.
