According to Sky Sports however, the two clubs are still some way off agreeing a fee for the goalkeeper.

Nevertheless, the news will be very welcome to Arsenal fans, as it appears to confirm his desire to move across the capital and stay in the Premier League, despite reported interest from several clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain (via Daily Mirror).

Sky Sports also report that the proposed deal will not involve one of Arsenal’s home grown players moving to Stamford Bridge.

With a squad which already boasts plenty of quality, Arsene Wenger will be hoping that the Czech international represents the final piece in the jigsaw. Arguably since Jens Lehmann left the club in 2008 – although he did briefly return in 2011 – the Gunners have been desperately searching for a number one that is able to lead them back to the Premier League title, and have yet to find one despite many being given the chance.

With Cech’s record over the past 11 years, there is reason to believe that they may have finally solved the conundrum that has been troubling them for the last seven years.
