Arsenal legend Thierry Henry believes that the Gunners can win the title next season, but any success is dependent on the form of Alexis Sanchez.
According to the Daily Mirror, the club’s all-time leading goalscorer admitted he is optimistic about next year, largely thanks to the Chilean playmaker.
“As an Arsenal fan, I am very excited about next season and hopefully we can bring some people to the club, some new players maybe, but when you have a guy like Alexis Sanchez, anything can happen. Hopefully he can fire us to the title next year,” he explained.
“We want to see that more and more and I know that he has that in his locker. When you have a guy like Alexis Sanchez, it is the X-factor,” Henry added.
Sanchez has been a revelation since he came to the Premier League last summer. He has bagged 16 goals in the top flight, and scored a wonderful effort to crown their FA Cup final win last month.
But, it’s not just his goalscoring that has won the former Barcelona man plenty of plaudits. He has already formed a formidable partnership with Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey just behind the striker. And the success of that front four has allowed Ozil to answer his critics, as Sanchez’s work rate has frequently allowed the German to play his natural game.
If the 26-year-old can enjoy a year as successful as his first, and the Gunners avoid the number of injuries they have been blighted with in recent times, then Henry may be correct, and Sanchez could be helping the north London side win their first Premier League title since the Invincibles triumphed 11 years ago.
