Arsenal will try to secure the signing of Petr Cech by making the Chelsea goalkeeper the highest paid stopper in the club’s history.
According to the Daily Express, Arsene Wenger is willing to offer the 33-year-old £100,000 a week, which would put him level with Theo Walcott, and only behind Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez as one of the Gunners’ top earners.
The north London side are hoping that the lucrative proposal will persuade the Czech Republic international to reject the interest of both Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain.
The offer also highlights the value he would potentially add at the Emirates. He has been one of the most consistent players in the Premier League over the last decade, and has the trophy cabinet to prove it. If he can replicate the form that has earned him so much respect at Stamford Bridge, Arsenal’s wait for a league title may be months away from ending.
