Arsenal star Mathieu Flamini set to follow Lukas Podolski to Galatasaray

Arsenal midfielder Mathieu Flamini could be set to link up with former teammate Lukas Podolski once again as he looks to be heading to Turkish outfit Galatasaray, according to the Daily Express.

Podolski joined the Istanbul-based giants earlier in the month after he was told that he had no discernible future at the Emirates Stadium, and now reports in Turkey claim that Flamini may be on his way to keep him company.

Following the breakthrough of compatriot midfielder Francis Coquelin last season, Flamini found himself relegated largely to the bench, meaning that in the two seasons since he rejoined the club from AC Milan, he has managed to make a combined total of just 50 Premier League appearances.

Furthermore, he hasn’t made a start for the Gunners since December, and has now been told that he is surplus to requirements in Arsene Wenger’s squad.

And should the deal go ahead, it will be the first transfer fee ever paid for the 31-year-old. Flamini originally joined Arsenal on a free before leaving for Milan on a Bosman and returning in the same way.
