Arsenal star TAUNTS Chelsea: ‘We’re taking your title!’

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has thrown down the challenge to Premier League champions Chelsea by telling them that his side now have the necessary ingredients to push them all the way for the title this season, the Metro reports.

The Gunners took veteran goalkeeper Petr Cech from Stamford Bridge this summer in an £11m deal (via the BBC) and are now turning their attentions towards a challenge for the Premier League title after back-to-back FA Cup wins.

Last season, Arsenal rallied to chalk up a third place finish behind the Blues and Manchester City, but the England star is now insisting that confidence is high enough to challenge for the big prize.

“Competition is a good thing. Look at the teams who have won the league in the past and look at Chelsea last year,” said Wilshere.

“They had a great squad but we feel we’ve got a squad to match them now.

“The Premier League is a tough, tough league. Add to that the FA Cup, League Cup and international breaks and players will pick up injuries, so it’s important to have players who can come in.

“I think [it’s important to start well] and without the European qualifier this year, which is almost a season definer, it gives us more time to prepare for the first game of the Premier League and concentrate on a good start.

“We know come February and March we’re always strong, so if we’re in a good position up to then we will be alright.”

Wilshere himself will also hoping he can stay injury free for the entire campaign, having failed to complete a full season since 2010/11.
