Ashley Young reportedly agrees new three-year Man United deal

The Metro are reporting that winger Ashley Young has agreed a new three-year contract extension with Manchester United.

The 29-year-old found himself reborn under Louis van Gaal last season, making 26 appearances in the Premier League, scoring two goals.

He struggled for form under van Gaal’s predecessor David Moyes, and looked to be heading for the exit, but The Sun are now claiming his reward for his hard work over the past 12 months is a new three-year deal.

The report states that Young won’t receive a rise on his already healthy £120,000-per-week salary, but the contract will be peppered with incentives relating to games played and whether or not the club end the campaign with any silverware.

Young filled in at left-back on numerous occasions last term, but faces an increased battle to get into the first team in the upcoming campaign.

With Luke Shaw expected overcome his injury problems to block the former Villa man’s path in the back line, the likes of Angel di Maria and Memphis Depay are being tipped as regular starters in Young’s other strongest positions for 2015/16.
