Liverpool have now confirmed that have completed a deal to sign Southampton full-back Nathaniel Clyne, according the club’s official
The Liverpool Echo report that the transfer will cost £12.5m, and will see the full-back sign a five-year deal at Anfield.
The England international revealed that he was ecstatic to make the move to Merseyside, the Echo report.
“I’m delighted and it’s a dream move for me to come here and play for such a big club with all of its history. I can’t wait to get started,” he said.
The 24-year-old becomes the latest face through the door this summer, with Roberto Firmino, Joe Gomez, James Milner, Danny Ings, and Adam Bogdan already signed up (via BBC Sport). However, it was Clyne’s move that was one of the most important to get across the line.
With Glen Johnson leaving the club, and Jon Flanagan continuing to struggle with injury, Brendan Rodgers is desperately thin on options at full-back. In the former Crystal Palace man, they have one of the most exciting defenders in the Premier League.
Still, Reds fans will be hoping that the chequebook remains open for a lot longer yet.
