Newcastle United are said to be lining up a surprise loan move for struggling Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli this summer, according to the Daily
Via reports in the Liverpool Echo, Reds boss Brendan Rodgers will now look to offload a number of his fringe players following their six new summer signings arrived before the transfer window even opened.
Balotelli endured a torrid time at Anfield last summer, bagging just one Premier League goal in 15 appearances following his £16m move from Milan 12 months ago.
However, with new manager Steve McClaren on board at St James’ Park, he is looking to rebuild his own squad and is reported to be considering a loan move for the struggling Italian.
Having previously been linked with a move for QPR’s Charlie Austin, the Magpies have turned their attentions towards Balotelli after learning that Chelsea are heading the queue to sign the England striker.
