According to the Independent, the 24-year-old is yet to agree a new deal with the Ligue 1 side, and could request a departure in the near future, as he tries to secure a move to one of Europe’s biggest clubs.
The Independent suggest that the Reds are certainly in the running for the Frenchman, who shone last year. He scored 27 times in just 33 league appearances to help his side finish second to Paris Saint-Germain in the top flight.
They will however, have to beat off competition from several of Europe’s top sides, including Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain, according to the Independent. Unfortunately for fans of the Merseyside club, the other pair in the running can offer Champions League football, which the Reds will not be able to for at least another year.
However, he may be tempted to Anfield after seeing the side throw open the chequebook on several occasions so far this summer. The most exciting deal saw Roberto Firmino move to the Premier League for £29m (via Independent). The Brazilian’s tremendous assist record may give Lacazette confidence that he can be a success in the Premier League, as he can expect plenty of chances to come his way.
And based on the success of Liverpool’s forwards last season, there is little question that he will be one of the first names on Brendan Rodgers’ teamsheets were he to sign. While the club added Danny Ings, it is only Daniel Sturridge that is likely to worry top flight defenders. And with his worrying injury record, the Reds have learnt that they can no longer rely on him solely.
