Reports in the Metro
The Gunners have apparently ditched their interest in Juventus star Arturo Vidal, and having already brought in goalkeeper Petr Cech from Chelsea, manager Arsene Wenger has made Portugal international Carvalho his number one transfer target.
The Metro claim that Wenger made a bid for the 21-year-old last month, and will ramp up their efforts to bring him on board now that the transfer window has officially opened.
And reports in the Daily Star believe that Wenger is already closing in on landing the Portugal international, and will complete the deal at some point in the near future.
With Manchester United looking to have jumped the queue to sign Southampton’s Morgan Schneiderlin, the Star suggest that Wenger has identified Carvalho as an alternative.
