Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain has decided that he wants to join Arsenal this summer, according to reports coming out of Italy.
As reported in the Metro, Corriere Dello Sport claim that the 27-year-old wants to join the Gunners, and is hoping that his desire to go, can make a deal happen.
The Metro report that Arsene Wenger’s side have already made an offer of £43.3m for the Argentinian. And while the Metro are not able to confirm whether the bid was accepted, the Daily Express previously reported that the Serie A side made a statement confirming that only by triggering his £67m release clause, would any interested party be able to secure his signature.
The Gunners are able to offer one of the key aspects that is luring Higuain away from Stadio San Paolo, and that is Champions League football.
And with doubts remaining over the credentials of Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott to lead the line for a Premier League title-winning side, there seems little question that he would be Wenger’s first choice, based on what he has produced during his time in Italy, as well as his six-year spell at Real Madrid.
