Roberto Firmino has finally completed his move to Liverpool, after successfully undertaking a medical.
According to the Daily Mirror, the Reds’ club doctor Andy Massey flew out to Brazil to conduct the tests on the 23-year-old, who has already agreed a £29m move from Hoffenheim.
The Mirror report that the playmaker has signed a five-year deal on Merseyside, however he will not link up with the majority of his teammates for another fortnight.
Along with Philippe Coutinho, Firmino was part of the Brazil side that reached the quarter-finals of the Copa America, and has thus been given some extra time off, the Mirror suggest. While he will not travel with the rest of the squad when they fly out to Bangkok on Sunday for the start of their pre-season tour, they may still meet up with the side at some point before their return to England.
Given the fee involved in bringing the attacker to Merseyside, as well as the strenuous season he’s had – that has only just finished – it is unlikely that Brendan Rodgers will want to rush him back until he is completely ready for the pressures of the upcoming Premier League campaign.
