Sergio Busquets admits Man United target Pedro may have to leave

Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets has confessed that his long time teammate Pedro may have to leave this summer amid growing competition for attacking positions at the club, according to the Metro.

The 27-year-old winger has been with the Catalan giants since breaking through from La Masia, the club’s famed youth academy, into the first team back in 2004 to become a celebrated and highly decorated player.

However, having picked up five La Liga titles and three Champions League titles, it now seems as though he may have to move on having struggled to displace the current trifecta of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez for a regular starting berth.

And Busquests says he understands his friend’s frustrations, and with Arda Turan set to pile on even more competition from January (via, he admits it may be best for him to continue his career elsewhere.

“I have spoken with Pedro,” he told journalists at a press conference in San Francisco.

“I think that as a team-mate and friend, I would like him to stay for a long time but I understand that he has doubts

“He wants to play but there is a lot of competition. In our team we have the best players and it’s very difficult.

“I hope he stays but the decision is his.”

The Metro goes on to state that Pedro has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League recently as continued reports state that the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea have all displayed an interest in making a move, as he has a relatively low release clause of £21m inserted into his contract.

However, the Daily Express reports that United have tried to undercut their rivals with a £16m bid for the Spanish international.
