Chelsea ready to make British record-breaking £72m offer for Paul Pogba

Chelsea are said to be willing to break the British transfer record by making a £72million offer for Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba after owner Roman Abramovic gave the green light to make a second bid this week, the Daily Express reports.

The Express claims that The Blues have already had an initial £55million offer rejected for the France international, and that it had been thought that Abramovic would not be willing to offer more than £60million to land his signature.

However, manager Jose Mourinho is believed to be keen to bring the 22-year-old on board, and the Russian billionaire has sanctioned one final bid in order to test Juve’s resolve.

The Express goes on to explain that it will most likely be a cash deal having already allowed winger Juan Cuadrado join the Italian champions (via ESPN), and should Juventus turn the offer down, The Blues will put a plan together to sign him next summer, even though by that point they will have to compete with Barcelona for his signature.
