Man United hoping to complete Thomas Muller deal in January after failed summer move

Manchester United are hoping to complete a deal to sign Bayern Munich star Thomas Muller in January after their summer move for the German failed to materialise, according to the Metro.

The Red Devils’ inability to agree a fee with the Bundesliga champions during the previous window meant that Louis van Gaal had to avert his attention to other targets, however, he is much more confident that he will be able to pull off an amazing switch in the winter (via Metro).

The Metro allege that the Bavarian outfit are keen to do business, which seems somewhat strange given the blistering start that the 26-year-old has made to the new season.

Muller has scored six goals from the opening four games – including a late penalty in the narrow victory over Augsburg – to help Pep Guardiola’s men make a perfect start to the new campaign.

Meanwhile, despite the tremendous impact made by Anthony Martial during his United debut, van Gaal’s side are still lacking options in the final third, which was highlighted by the Dutchman’s decision to start with Marouane Fellaini spearheading the attack in the opening stages of the Liverpool win.
