5. David Silva £200,000 a week (Manchester City)
The playmaker has been scintillating during the new campaign, and one of the main reasons why Manuel Pellegrini’s side top the table with a perfect record. The ball appears to be glued to his feet at times, and his creativity is incredible.
4. Eden Hazard £220,000 a week (Chelsea)
The Belgian was the top flight’s player of the season last term, and without him, it is difficult to see how the Blues would have won the title. His task will be much more difficult this year however, now that teams know what he is capable of, and have had time to try and work out how to nullify his threat.
3. Yaya Toure £240,000 a week (Manchester City)
There was a feeling last season that Yaya Toure was beginning to lose some of his magic. However, he answered his critics at the start of his campaign with a stunning performance against West Brom. The former Barcelona man already has three assists.
2. Sergio Aguero £240,000 a week (Manchester City)
Aguero was the Premier League’s top goalscorer last season despite the fact that he spent a fair amount of time on the sidelines injured. Had he been available, City may well have been lifting the title.
1. Wayne Rooney £260,000 a week (Manchester United)
The Red Devils’ sole representative in the top ten is the highest paid player in the Premier League. England’s all-time leading goalscorer does so much for his side that it is difficult to argue with his place at the very top.
