Everton have completed a £3 million deal for Shani Tarashaj, dubbed “the new Xherdan Shaqiri”, reports
The Blues seen off Serie A competition to sign the Swiss starlet, as also Juventus and Inter Milan were keen to land the 20-year-old. Tarashaj penned a four-and-a-half year deal at Goodison Park but will spend the rest of the season with Grasshopper Zurich before joining Everton in July.
Everton manager Roberto Martinez is excited by his clubs’ acquisition, as Tarashaj is seen by many as being better than Shaqiri was at the same age. The 24-year-old left Basel for Bayern Munich in 2012 and also played for Inter before joining Stoke City this summer.
Tarashaj has been capped eight times for Switzerland at the under-21 level, scoring five goals in that span. He’s believed to become the next big star of Swiss football. Although right-footed, Martinez plans on playing Tarashaj from the left-hand side when he joins up with Everton in time for next season. A position he has played on occasion at Grasshopper.
