Liverpool fans can’t believe their “luck” when striker target injured his hamstring

A report by The Guardian claimed that Liverpool CEO Ian Ayre was on his way to Florida to strike a deal for Shakhtar Donetsk forward Alex Teixeira as soon as possible.

The Ukrainian club has currently set up its winter camp in the United States, preparing for the Florida Cup and the Reds so far are the only club who have made an official approach for Teixeira.

Liverpool have offered £24.6m million for the 26-year-old Shakhtar forward, who has been on fire all season long. Teixeira has scored 22 goals in just 15 league matches, while also hitting the net three times in the Champions League.

The Reds have scored just 25 goals in 22 league matches, with forwards Danny Ings, Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi, as well as Philippe Coutinho, injured. Christian Benteke is Liverpool’s highest scorer in the league this season with six.

They are therefore keen to add a prolific striker, with Teixeira being on top of their list. Also Chelsea have shown interest, but the Blues haven’t made an official offer yet.

However, Liverpool fans’ excitement was short lived as soon reports began circulating that the Brazilian striker had injured his hamstring. Considering the current injury crisis at the club, it was rather amusing for some fans.
