Arsenal will have to dig deep in order to get two of their most wanted players next summer: Benedikt Howedes and William Carvalho.
First up: Howedes. It was announced by Schalke 04 on their club
This is the fourth time that the Schalke man has extended his contract at the club, as the the 27-year-old has played with the Royal Blues since 2001, joining their youth ranks from SG Herten-Langenbochumm. He made his Bundesliga debut in October 2007.
The German defender was a target for Arsenal during the winter transfer window with the Gunners reportedly willing to pay the £9 million release clause in his old contract. However, a deal was never reached.
Next up: Carvalho. The Portuguese midfielder extended his contract at Sporting Lisbon, which also ties him to the club until 2020.
Arsenal have long been keen on the 23-year-old and Football Insider say they have the details of his new release clause, which is set at £35 million, while it was £29 million prior to his new terms.
