Jose Mourinho was known to be a big fan of Varane during his time at the Bernabeu, and could well be set for a reunion with the player should he take over at Old Trafford this summer, which the Portuguese himself has reportedly told friends.
Spanish news outlet AS even claim Varane is Mourinho’s top target. In 2014, the former Chelsea manager described the young gun as one of the best young players in the world.
The 22-year-old centre-back moved from Lens to Real Madrid for £7.5 million during the summer of 2011. The Red Devils were highly interested, but Zinedine Zidane’s influence convinced him to head to the Spanish capital.
