Jose Mourinho is convinced he’ll coach Manchester United next season

Former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is understood to have told friends that he expects to become Manchester United’s coach in the summer of 2016, according to The Telegraph.

The Red Devils have refused to deny reports they have held discussions with the Portuguese and no deal has been struck between the two parties.

However, a well-placed source told the Telegraph: “Mourinho’s going to Manchester United. It’s a done deal. Chelsea is the only big job up for grabs.”

United have been forced to act rapidly after Manchester City lured in Pep Guardiola to take over from Manuel Pellegrini next summer, with both man eager to reignite their fierce rivalry during their time in Spain, as Real Madrid and Barcelona managers respectively.

Louis van Gaal still has a year remaining on his Red Devils’ contract, but the Dutchman has not impressed, with
rumours about an early exit having been aplenty.

Mourinho was last seen on Saturday in Berlin, where he watched the Bundesliga encounter between Hertha Berlin and Borussia Dortmund.

‘The Special One’ was sacked by Chelsea on December 17, three days after the Blues were defeated 2-1 by league leaders Leicester City, with goals from season sensations Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez.
