Liverpool fail on the transfer market once again: Real Madrid winger looks set for other team

Liverpool looked to be inching closer to completing a loan move for Real Madrid winger Denis Cheryshev, but have failed to deliver on the transfer market once again, according to reports.

Spanish source Marca claimed that the Reds had reignited their interest in the Russian international after failing to sign him during the summer transfer window, and failing to capture big target Alex Teixeira from Shakthar.

The Reds were reportedly confident that they could complete the transfer before the January transfer window comes to an end on Monday night.

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane confirmed that the player needs to play and could be allowed to leave on a loan deal.

He said, via Daily Star,: “We’ll see tomorrow but yes, Cheryshev could leave. He’s a great player, but he needs to play.”

But Sky Sports’ Guillem Balague has now come out to state Liverpool have given up their pursuit of the Russian, considering Sevilla had agreed a loan deal. However, the La Liga team had to get rid of former Chelsea player Gaël Kakuta first and didn’t succeed.

Balague also reported Watford were interested in bringing Cheryshev to the Premier League, but he eventually joined Valancia.

The 25-year old has only played 70 minutes of football for Los Blancos in La Liga and Champions League this season and wants regular playing opportunities ahead of the summer’s European Championships in France.

Cheryshev spent the last season on loan at Villarreal and scored four goals in 26 league appearances for the Yellow Submarines.
