Out-of-favour striker to stay at Chelsea

Brazilian striker Alexandre Pato arrived at Chelsea amid high expectations on a loan move from Brazilian club Corinthians in January.

He was expected to play an important role in the second half of the season for the Blues, but things didn’t turn out according to the plan for the 26-year-old.

Pato managed to make only two appearances for the West London club under manager Guus Hiddink and up until now the understanding was that his career at Stamford Bridge had finished before it even started.

However, according to Sky Sports News HQ, there is still hope for Pato as incoming manager Antonio Conte is an admirer of the striker and wants him to stay at the club.

The report states that Pato’s parent club Corinthians expect their player to stay with the Blues for at least one more season. It’s still not clear whether it will be a permanent move or an extension to the current loan deal.

This news has come just a week after Corinthians President Roberto de Andrade claimed that he would welcome back Pato if Chelsea decide against extending his deal.
